The Wide Reach of Avis Car Rental

In addition to being one of the world’s largest car rental companies, Avis is also involved in philanthropic endeavors sponsoring events like the Achilles Track Club. They will be sending a newly formed “Freedom Team” of 15 veterans with disabilities from across the U.S. to compete in the upcoming ING Miami Marathon. This will be the second consecutive year that Avis will be sponsoring this event. Avis is the presenting sponsor of Athletes with Disabilities and the Wheelchair Division, and is the Official Rental Car Company of the ING Miami Marathon.





The Avis Freedom Team

The Freedom Team is a group of veterans who sustained injuries while serving in the armed forces and are undergoing rehabilitation at Walter Reed Army Medical Center in Washington D.C., Balboa Naval Medical Center in San Diego or the Brooke Army Medical Center in San Antonio. The Achilles Track Club, an organization that provides training to athletes with disabilities, has trained the Freedom Team athletes for the race.

Avis, as part of the sponsorship will provide the resources necessary for the Freedom Team to travel to and compete in the marathon.

Avis and the “We Try Harder” Spirit
Becky Alseth, senior vice president of marketing for Avis Budget Group, the parent company of Avis says, “We are proud to support them and all the participants competing in the ING Miami Marathon.” Avis feels that this event embodies the “We Try Harder Spirit” which we believe in.
